Starz is a vibrant and lively learning community because we develop a range of centrally-managed projects, resources and activities as part of the subscription. These are open to schools and individual pupils who wish to participate.

Accredited Competence in E-safety |
|
Being safe online and behaving responsibly are important aspects of using the internet effectively. ACE is a scheme for children using a learning platform to show that they are adopting safe behaviours and deserve to be awarded the Accredited Competence in E-Safety. Children demonstrate that they are becoming digitally mature by completing a series of tasks. The tasks are organised into three levels:

Here is a small sample of the other kinds of things we offer each year and, from April 2012 children have access to an additional suite of online software that they can use in home or school.
Activities:
- Story Circle - collaborative story writing between schools
- Battle of the Poets - schools use web conferencing to present their poems to a panel of judges
- Film Festival - film creation culminating in an annual awards ceremony
- Exploring the news
- Maths trails - online challenges
- E-safety - leading to a certificate
- Moderated online discussions
